erm...i'm not sure...i thought POSB savings is considered a current account? how does a debit work??

seriously waimun u r wiser than this. r u kidding?
current acc is for u to issue cheques while debit-card is like a credit card but the amt u can use is limited to the balance u have in ur acc. i checked for u abt the debit card, they won't let u overdraft(swap until negative balance) which they ll definitely charge u for a fee.

Nope i'm not kidding. I really have no concept of how the banking stuff works. Wt about NETS? Doesn't it work the same way as Debit except that it deducts on the spot whereas the latter does so slightly later? The account from which the amt is deducted using NETS and debit card is considered current account or savings account??

only credit cards will consolidate ur purchases monthly n then if u dun pay up the full sum, they charge an interest according to the entire sum owed, not the outstanding amt.
posb nets lets u make daily purchases up to limit $2000. debit card is $5000(or whatever ur acc balance is, whichever is lower), n yes the transaction is immediate.
in the case of posb, if u want to have a chequebook n a credit card, u need to apply for them separately.

if u don't need to issue cheques on a regular basis, i suggest u just simply get a cashier's order whenever u need to send a cheque over for something. a small fee applies for each CO. better than u pay $2 every mth n need to maintain $1500 n if not they charge a penalty to ur acc.
